Artistic Gymnastics National Championship 2024: Dipa Karmakar tops all-around event; Pranati Nayak wins vault gold medal

Dipa Karmakar also clinched silver in both women’s vault and uneven bars individual apparatus events. Know all medal winners.

Olympian Dipa Karmakar won the gold medal in the women’s all-around category while Pranati Nayak clinched the title in the women’s vault event at the Artistic Gymnastics National Championship 2024 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Dipa Karmakar, a Rio 2016 Olympian and Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, is competing in her first nationals since 2015. She tallied a total of 49.55 points.

“I'm competing in senior nationals after eight years,” Dipa Karmakar pointed out. “I feel great about it and I am really happy with the performance.”

Pranati Das, a gold medallist at the National Games 2023, scored 47.00 to claim silver while Swastika Ganguly (45.30) finished in the third position in all-round.

Dipa Karmakar also bagged two silver medals in the women’s vault and uneven bars individual apparatus, respectively.

Tokyo Olympian Pranati Nayak won the gold medal in the vault segment while Protistha Samanta secured bronze. Pranati Das, meanwhile, topped the women’s uneven bars and floor exercise event. Ritu Das won gold in balance beam.

Earlier on Tuesday, Rakesh Kumar Patra won the men’s all-around category with 75.05 points. Siddharth Verma, with 74.75 points, finished second while Gaurav Kumar finished third with 74.65 points.

On Thursday, Rakesh Kumar Patra added three more medals to his tally - a gold in men’s rings, a silver in parallel bars and a bronze in horizontal bar.

Meanwhile, the Railways emerged champions in the women's team category with 182.60 points. Maharashtra finished in second position with 169.95 while West Bengal finished third with 166.80 points. Hosts Odisha finished fourth with 164.65 points.

Railways also clinched the gold medal in the men’s team event with 293.00 points. Services, with 292.10, bagged the silver while Odisha settled for bronze with 290.40 points.
