Fresh off guiding France to Olympic gold at Paris 2024, Antoine Dupont is (briefly) back on the rugby pitch.

The scrum-half was in training with his rugby union club Stade Toulousain on Monday (2 September) during their final week of pre-season training, before beginning their campaign away to RC Vannes on 8 September.

However, captain Dupont is not back in full training, as L’Équipe explains that he continues his summer break and is not expected to return to competition until the end of September.

Dupont made the switch from rugby union to rugby sevens last year ahead of the Olympic Games, leading France to a historic home gold on the opening day of Paris 2024.

In the gold medal match against Fiji, Dupont came off the bench at half-time and scored two tries and an assist at the Stade de France in his finest hour.

Sixteen days later, he returned to the stadium in a different capacity, serving as France’s male flagbearer at the Closing Ceremony.

The French men’s rugby union team returns to action in the Autumn Internationals, kicking off against Japan at the Stade de France on 9 November.
