Anna Gasser lands historic Triple Cork: 'It's another milestone in women's snowboarding'
The Olympic champion is the first woman to successfully complete the trick.
SnowboardOlympic Big Air snowboarding champion Anna Gasser has become the first woman to successfully land a Triple Cork.
The Austrian became the first woman to win Big Air Olympic gold when she did so at PyeongChang 2018, and has now added another achievement to her CV.
She accomplished the feat on her first try at the Stubai Prime Park Sessions in Austria with a cab triple 1260: she began the move facing the 'wrong' way, completed three and a half overhead spins, and landed facing forward.
"I just went for it without telling anyone, and I stomped it! I’m so stoked! This trick was one of my bigger goals but I didn’t think I’d be able to land it that early in the season!"

The 27-year-old was keen to emphasise that it's not a move that is easily pulled off.
"It's a trick with consequence and you really have to put everything on the line if you want to succeed. It easily happens that you over-rotate on the third flip which makes landing safely impossible.
"Today it just felt right and I am happy I ticked that one off my list – it doesn't feel like such a big thing, but I guess it's another milestone in women's snowboarding."
And will she do it again soon?
"I think it's possible to do it in X Games and all the comps with bigger jumps, I don't think I will show it in the in-city contests," she said.
"There is still so much to learn and that is what excites me a lot. I am stoked this box is ticked."
Only over four years ago British Olympian Katie Ormerod became the first woman to land a double cork. It took eight years for Norway's Torstein Horgmo to land the first men's triple cork in 2013 after JP Walker's double cork in 2005.
