Alpine skiing star Mikaela Shiffrin is about to kick off her 14th World Cup season on Saturday (28 October) with the traditional opening giant slalom in Soelden.
In the Austrian resort, the 28-year-old has raced nine times and she failed to make the podium only on three occasions (2012, 2013 and 2017).
This time she will chase her third victory on the Rettenbach Glacier, her second back-to-back, after last year's event was cancelled due to bad weather.
With a success, Shiffrin would achieve her 89th World Cup victory. In the previous season, she surpassed Ingemar Stenmark's historic mark (86) to become the most successful skier, male or female, in the history of the competition.
The two-time Olympic gold medallist has won the past two overall World Cup titles and hopes to add a third consecutive big crystal globe - and a sixth in total - in her 2023/24 campaign.
