The best in collegiate track and field athletics are set to descend on Eugene, Oregon, for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this week, 5-8 June.
The event returns to Hayward Field at the University of Oregon ahead of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for athletics later in the month (20-30 June).
Texas standout Leo Neugebauer, who hails from Germany, looks to successfully defend his title in the decathlon. Neugebauer set a national German record at NCAAs last year, and duplicated both feats at NCAA Indoors in March. He told Olympics.com last year that he's eyeing the Olympic podium at Paris 2024 should he qualify.
Sprinting standouts Shaun Maswanganyi (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay), Favour Ashe (100m, 4x100m relay) and Tarsis Orogot (200m, 4x100 and 4x400m relays) are all set to feature in Eugene, with the three men all hailing from African nations.
On the women's side, reigning 800m champion Michaela Rose of LSU looks for back-to-back titles, too, having said earlier this year she'd like to not only qualify for the Olympics but make the 800m final.
Others to watch include Arkansas' Rosey Effiong (400m, 4x100 and 4x400m relays), Parker Valby of Florida (5000m and 10,000m) and Ackelia Smith of Texas (long and triple jumps; both relays).
The Texas women claimed the team title in 2023, while the men's trophy was claimed by Florida. Some of the top collegiate stars - especially those from the U.S. - have opted out of the Championships with Olympic Trials looming.
The NCAA is providing rolling updates ahead of the championships here.
