2021 Sudirman Cup - Indonesia beat Denmark to qualify for quarter finals as group winners

Praveen Jordan and Melati Oktavianti won the decisive point in mixed doubles as Indonesia defeated Denmark 3-2 in the last match of Group C in Finland.

The Indonesian badminton team defeated Denmark 3-2 on Wednesday (29 September) to top Group C at the 2021 Sudirman Cup in Vantaa, Finland.

Both teams had previously qualified for the quarter finals after their matches on Tuesday.

Indonesia went in front with Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo beating Mads Pieler Kolding and Frederik Soegaard in the men's doubles (21-19, 21-15).

Later Denmark picked two points and moved up 2-1 after Mia Blichfeldt and Anders Antonsen saw off Putri Kusuma Wardani and bronze Olympic medallist Anthony Ginting, respectively in the women's and men's singles.

Olympic champions Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu then levelled the score as they toppled Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen in the women's doubles match (21-17, 21-9).

Finally Praveen Jordan and Melati Oktavianti earned the decisive point for Indonesia defeating Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund in straight sets (21-8, 21-17) in the mixed doubles after 33 minutes of play.
