Kerala women's team beat arch-rivals Railways to complete a hat-trick of titles
Haryana men and Kerala women's team emerged champions at the 69th Senior National Volleyball Championship held at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology University in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
The champions' displayed dominating performance as they clinched victory in straight sets.
Haryana overpowered Assam 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 in the summit clash. It was their first win in the final in 14 years.
Kerala women's team defended their title as they beat arch-rivals Railways 25-20, 27-25, 25-13. Remarkably, by the virtue of the victory, the Kerala women's team completed a hat-trick of triumphs and stamped their authority on the senior national championships.
Meanwhile, in the third-place match, Kerala men defeated Railways 36-38, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12 in a two-hour contest to settle for the bronze.
Earlier, in the men's category defending champions Tamil Nadu lost to Haryana in the quarter-finals.
The week-long Senior National Championships in 2021 saw a participation of 1200 (men and women) volleyball players from 28 states and 8 union territories. It was organized by the Odisha Volleyball Association (OVA) and Volleyball Federation of India (VFI).
