Biography

Nicknamed “Fèfè”, Wilfred de Lanoi won a gold medal at the 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games in Guatemala with the Netherlands Antilles selection. De Lanoi, a defender, took part in the 1953 CCCF (Confederación Centroamericana y del Caribe de Fútbol) Championship and in 1955, won a silver medal at the CCCF Championship and a bronze medal at the Pan American Games, when he opened the scoring in the ninth minute of their match against Argentina before the South Americans won 2-1. De Lanoi played in two qualifying matches for the 1958 FIFA World Cup, competed in the 1957 CCCF Championship, played in a further to qualifiers for the 1962 World Cup and bowed out of international football after 26 caps and three goals, in a 3-2 defeat by El Salvador in the 1963 CONCACAF Championship, in which Curaçao finished third.
