Biography

Wendy Brown competed at the Olympics in the heptathlon, but also competed in several of the constituent events. She was known as a top jumper and set two world records in the triple jump, in the era before it was recognized by the IAAF. Brown set one world best in winning the 1985 NCAA Championship qualifying round (she was fourth in the final) and the other at a 1987 USC-UCLA Dual Meet. In the NCAA triple jump, Brown finished fourth in 1985-86, third in 1987, and second in 1988, all while competing for Southern Cal. At the US Championships, she won the triple jump in 1985-86 and 1988. She was 1988 NCAA Champion in the heptathlon. Brown also won a gold medal in the long jump at the 1984 Pan American Junior Championships.

In high school Brown competed for Woodside HS and led them to the 1984 California State team title single-handedly, winning the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and placing second in the 100 hurdles. Brown later appeared on the American television series “American Gladiators.”
