Walter Wright wrestled middleweight freestyle at the 1924 Paris Olympics, finishing in a tie for 11th place. Wright wrestled for Cornell University, winning the intercollegiate heavyweight title in 1922, and placing second in 1923. Wright also played soccer (football) at Cornell as a junior and senior. He later became a research engineer for the St. Regis Company. Wright was inducted into the Cornell Sports Hall of Fame in 2007.
