Biography

Vladimir Lutchenko played his entire career from 1966-81 with one club – CSKA Moskva. With them he won ten Soviet titles (1968, 1970-73, 1975, 1977-80) and ten European Champions Cup titles (1969-74, 1976, 1978-80). Internationally, besides his two Olympic golds, Lutchenko won eight World Championships titles (1969-71, 1973-75, 1978, 1979) and six European Championships titles (1969, 1970, 1973-75, 1979). He also won silvers (1972, 1976) and bronze (1977) at the World Championships and silvers (1972, 1976, 1978) and bronze (1977) at the European Championships. Lutchenko also took part in the 1972 and 1974 Summit Series and won a bronze at the 1976 Canada Cup. After his sporting career ended Lutchenko worked as a director of the CSKA Moskva sports school. Since 1997 he has worked as a children’s hockey coach in Boston, Massachusetts and also worked as a scout for the New York Rangers.
