In 1928 Sven-Olof Lundgren won his first Swedish Championship in ski jumping with his team-mates of IF Friska Viljor. This earned him a place in the Swedish team for the St. Moritz Olympics where, in difficult conditions with icy tracks, Lundgren managed to finish fifth. In 1929, Lundgren became the individual Swedish champion as well as again winning the team competition.
