Biography

Sergio Caprari won a silver medal at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and then turned professional. He fought his first pro bout on 16 September 1952, winning by points over Enzo Piccinini. His career lasted until December 1961 when he fought Flash Elorde for the World Super Featherweight title, but lost by TKO in the first round. Caprari won the Italian featherweight title in 1956 with a TKO over Nello Barbadaro, and the European featherweight title in 1958 by TKO in the 11th over Jean Sneyers of Belgium. He lost the European title in August 1958 against Gracieux Lamperti. Caprari’s career professional record was 50 wins (20 by knockout), 4 losses, and 2 draws.
