Biography

Serhiy Kravtsov was a track sprinter who competed for the Soviet Union at three Olympics (1968-76) in the sprint, also racing the kilometre at the 1968 Olympics, although he never managed to win a medal. He was Soviet Champion in the kilometre in 1969 and in the sprint in 1974, and in 1974, won the Grand Prix de Copenhague, one of the premier invitational track competitions of that era, in which he had also placed third in 1970. At the World Championships, Kravtsov won two silver medals in the sprint in 1971 and 1974, also placing fourth in the kilometre at the 1970 Worlds. At the Soviet championships he won silvers in sprint in 1969, 1971-72 and 1975, and sprint bronze in 1976 and tandem bronze 1968.
