Biography

Prior to his 1932 bronze medal in the One-Person Dinghy (Snowbird Class), Santiago Amat had already participated in the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Games. In 1924, he was fourth in the Monotype Class and eighth in the 6-metre class, while in 1928 he was 14th in Monotype. In 1936, Amat was unable to compete because of the Spanish Civil War. The Catalan had started sailing as early as 1903. In 1952, at the age of 65, he still finished third at the European Championships.
