Biography

In 1951, Bobby Bickle won the Intercity Golden Gloves title and the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions. He was supposed to fight as a featherweight at the Helsinki Olympics but moved up to the lightweight class, where he won one bout and then lost by split decision to Italy’s Aureliano Bolognesi, who went on to win the gold medal. He turned professional in October 1952 and won his first 17 fights. He fought as a pro through October 1958, finishing with a career record of 40 wins, 11 losses, and 2 draws, but he never fought for a major title. In March 1957 Bickle knocked out Terry Lloyd in the 5th round to win the Kansas State lightweight championship.
