Biography

Dick Barber competed for the University of Southern California on the track team. He also played football, starring at fullback for the Trojans and playing in the Rose Bowl. Barber was 1932 Olympic Trials champion in the long jump. In World War II he served in the US Navy. Barber later became a teacher and school principal at La Jolla High School in San Diego. He also served in the Naval Reserve, retiring as a Commander. At his death, his ashes were scattered at sea by the Navy.
