Biography

Pierre Jonquères d'Oriola is the most titled champion ever in show jumping. He won two individual gold medals in that event, the first in 1952 at Helsinki and the second twelve years later in 1964 at Tokyo. Jonquères d'Oriola did compete in 1956 and 1960 but with less success. In 1966 he also won the World Championships in individual show jumping, making him one of three men (the others being Hans Günter Winkler [GER] and Raimondo D'Inzeo [ITA]) to have won three individual world or Olympic titles in that discipline. Jonquères d'Oriola also won Olympic silver in 1964 and 1968 as a member of the French team.
