Phyllis Harding had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1924 Olympics 100 metres Backstroke; 1st in the 1930 British Empire Games 4×100 yards Freestyle Relay (with Joyce Cooper, Olive Joynes, and the non-Olympian Doreen Cooper), 1st in the 1934 British Empire Games 100 yards Backstroke, 2nd in the 1934 British Empire Games 3×110 yards Medley Relay (with Vera Kingston and Edna Hughes), 3rd in the 1930 British Empire Games 100 yards Backstroke; 2nd in the 1931 European Championships 4×100 metres Freestyle Relay (with Valerie Davies, Jean McDowall, and Joyce Cooper), 3rd in the 1927 European Championships 100 metre Backstroke, 3rd in the 1931 European Championships 100 metre Backstroke. In the British Empire Games Harding represented England.
