Péter Tóth was an athlete of MAC Budapest. He competed both in sabre and foil. He was a member of the Hungarian Sabre Team, which won the Olympic championship title in 1908 and then again at the 1912 Summer Olympics. In 1913 he became a founding member of the International Fencing Federation. During his long active athletic career he won his first Hungarian championship in 1907 and his last one in 1934. He also participated in the 1928 Summer Olympics in foil. As a former military officer, after World War II he could only work as an unskilled labourer. Tóth later published sport articles in different Hungarian sport magazines. He was killed in a car accident.
