Biography

Peter Nettekoven wrestled in both styles, freestyle and Greco-Roman, during his career. He won eight West German national titles from 1961-1972, and added another nine podiums. Internationally he was less successful, winning one bronze medal at the 1966 World Championships in Toledo, USA. At the 1968 Mexico City Olympics he was eliminated in the third round of the Greco-Roman welterweight division.

By profession, Nettekoven was a trained butcher, but later worked as a long-time wrestling coach at his home club TKSV Duisdorf Bonn, and also assistant coach of the West German national team for many years.
