Biography

Rower Peter Hein was a member of the East German coxed eights at the 1968 Mexico Olympics, winning the B-final and classifying seventh. He rowed with TSC Berlin, winning the East German eights national title in 1963-64 and 1966-67. At the 1966 World Championships Hein won a bronze medal. In 1969, he moved to the SC Berlin-Grünau coxed fours team and won a silver medal at the European Championships, finishing closely behind West Germany. The crew also won a silver medal at the 1970 East German Championships. With non-Olympian Dieter Hinrichsen, Hein won another two silvers in the coxless pairs at the East German nationals in 1971 and 1972.
