Biography

Peter Adeberg was an international skater just below the top level in the 1,000 m and 1,500 m. As East German Junior Champion, he took part in the World Junior Championships in 1985, finishing fifth. Two years later, he competed at senior tournaments for the first time. Altogether, he took part in eight European Championships (best performance: 7th in 1991), six World Championships (9th in 1991), one World Sprint Championship (9th in 1991), three World Single Distance Championships (5th and 6th in 1996) and four Olympic Games. His best Olympic result was fifth place in the 1992 1,000 metres, while he finished sixth in the 1994 1,500 metres. Peter Adeberg became National Allround Champion twice (1989 in the DDR, 1992 in unified Germany) and won 9 World Cup races (all over 1,500 m). His sister, Ulrike, was also a speed skater.

Personal Bests\: 500 – 36.92 (1998); 1000 – 1:11.90 (1998); 1500 – 1:48.81 (1998); 5000 – 6:51.35 (1998); 10000 – 14:47.67 (1998).
