Biography

Nina Gavrylyuk achieved most of her success in the relays. During her long career Gavrylyuk competed in four Winter Olympics and won three relay golds (1988, 1994, 1994),but only one individual medal, a bronze in the 15 km in 1994. At the World Championships, Gavrylyuk was even more successful, winning the relay six times (1987, 1993, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001) and one relay bronze in 2003. She also won silvers in the 5 km (1995) and pursuit (1995, 1999) and a bronze in the pursuit at the 1997 World Championships, and won silver at the 1994-95 World Cup and bronze at the 1998-99 World Cup. Domestically Gavrylyuk won two Soviet titles (1987 in the relay and 1991 at 30 km) and six Russian titles (10 km in 1995 and 1998, 30 km in 1992 and 1993 and the relay in 1992 and 1998). After finishing her sporting career Gavrylyuk worked as a cross-country skiing coach, mainly in the United States.
