Biography

Nelson Diebel was a breaststroker who swam for Princeton. He won gold medals at the 1992 Olympics in the 100 breaststroke and the medley relay. Diebel also won silver medals in the 200 breaststroke at the 1989 Pan Pacs and the 1991 Pan American Games.

Diebel had been a problem child who was kicked out of two schools before his mother enrolled him in the private Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey. He flourished there and was able to gain acceptance to Princeton. Diebel later became a professional speaker, telling the story of how he went from a self-described thug to a champion.
