Biography

Mikhail Devyatyarov competed at three major international championships, winning a silver in the relay and bronze at 15 km at the 1987 World Championships. The high point of Devyatyarov’s career was the 1988 Winter Olympics, where he won gold in the 15 km, silver in the relay, was fourth at 30 km, and 25th over 50 km. Devyatyarov also competed at the 1989 World Championships, where he was 14th in 30 km classical and 34th in 15 km classical. Domestically Devyatyarov won three Soviet titles, in the 15 km, 50 km and the relay, all in 1987. After his sporting career, Devyatyarov worked as a coach with the Russian national cross-country skiing team.
