Biography

Michelle Dusserre was the youngest member of the US women’s gymnastics team at the 1984 Olympics. While still in high school she was the stunt double for Janet Jones (Gretzky) in the movie American Anthem. Dusserre sustained a severe elbow injury in 1985, which eventually ended her career, although she tried to compete through 1987. After retiring from competition, Dusserre attended Arizona State University where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She later attended the University of Colorado where she earned a masters’ degree as a dietician. Dusserre worked for the US Olympic Committee from 2000-06, and then left the USOC to work as a dietician and focus on a project she and her husband had started, The Swing High Project (SHP), which helps build playgrounds in the Pikes Peak Region which are fully accessible to persons with disabilities.
