Biography

Mike Huwiler played college soccer (football) at the University of Virginia, helping lead them to NCAA titles in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, he started playing professionally with the Richmond Kickers of the US Indoor Soccer League (USISL), joining the Chicago Power of the National Professional Soccer League in 1994-95.

In 1995 Huwiler moved to the MLS (Major League Soccer), first playing briefly with the Atlanta Ruckus, and then playing in 1996 with DC United, helping them win the MLS title that year. Huwiler later played for the Richmond Kickers again, before finishing his career in Milwaukee with the Rampage in 1997-98 and the US Amateur Cup Champion Bavarians in 1999-2000.

Huwiler became a soccer coach, starting in 1998 with the Milwaukee Area Technical College men’s team. He later coached at Marquette University High School. He has also worked for M&I Corporation.
