Meybelle Reichardt was an American discus throw record holder with 116-9¼ [35.58], set in July 1928, and won the AAU Championship with the discus in 1925 and 1928. In 1928, she represented the Pasadena Athletic Club and attended Pasadena Community College. Reichardt had also played basketball for the Los Angeles Athletic Club in 1926, when the team won the women’s national championship. She later became a registered nurse, which became her career. Reichardt and her husband had two sons, both of whom became college professors, earning their doctorates at Princeton and Harvard, and later teaching musical composition and physics.
