Lyudmila Yegorova was a member of the Soviet gymnastics team that won medals in the team all-around (gold) and the now-defunct portable apparatus (bronze). Individually, she fared best in the horse vault (9th), an event in which she had won two bronze medals at the Soviet Championships. In 1955 and 1956, she was also runner-up in the individual all-around at these championships. Yegorova also excelled in acrobatics, winning a national title in 1950. She later graduated from the Leningrad Physical Culture Institute, and worked as a gymnastics teacher and coach. At the time of her death she was the chairman of the Kaliningrad branch of Russian Athletes' Union
