Lisa ALEXANDER

Lisa Alexander began her synchronized swimming career at the age of eight and joined the Canadian national team in 1985. Her first major victories on the international scene came at the 1991 World Aquatics Championships, where she took bronze in the duet with the non-Olympian Kathy Glen, and silver in the team event alongsideGlen, Karen Clark, Karen Fonteyne, Christine Larsen, Cari Read, and the non-Olympians Charlene Davies and Heather Johnston. Parterning with Erin Woodley in 1993, she won duet gold at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 1994 World Championships, as well as silver in the team event, alongsideClark, Fonteyne, Read, Woodley, Janice Bremner, Kasia Kulesza, and the non-Olympian Carrie DeGuerre. Her final tournament was the 1996 Summer Olympics, where she won silver in the team event with her 1994 World Championship squad, replacing DeGuerre with Larsen, Sylvie Fréchette, and Valérie Hould-Marchand. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Alexander has been active in sports administration and charity work since her retirement. She was inducted into the Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and a synchronized swimming meet in her native province of Ontario is named in her honor.
