Biography

In 1924 the US only entered a boat in the coxed pair at the last minute. Rowing for the Penn Barge Club in 1924, Leon Butler joined up with a pair-oared shell to compete at the Olympics. Despite the inexperience of his team, seated in the bow, he helped them to a bronze medal, finishing behind Switzerland and Italy
