Karin Singstad was part of the Norwegian team that surprisingly won a bronze medal in the 1986 World Championship in the Netherlands, which was the start of Norwegian success in handball. Her only other international competition was as part of the silver medal winning team in the 1988 Olympics. Singstad played 83 international matches and scored 33 goals for Norway.
After her handball career Singstad stayed involved in handball as an administrator, both with her local club and by arranging a large junior tournament every year. She has also been involved in the fan club of the Norwegian national team, called “Håndballens Venner.”
