John Alan CAMPBELL

Australian-born John Campbell was educated at Melbourne Grammar School and, after moving to the UK, Jesus College, Cambridge. In 1920, he was a member of the victorious Cambridge crew in the Boat Race. With the Leander crew Campbell won a silver medal in the eights at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. In 1921 he rowed again for Cambridge, winning the Boat Race for a second time and in the same year took the Silver Goblets at Henley together with non-Olympian Humphrey Playford.
