Biography

Jean Washer played all three tennis events at the 1920 and 1924 Olympics. Washer never managed a major international title but he was runner-up at the World Hard Court Championships in 1921 and 1923. He reached the semi-finals at Roland Garros in 1925 and the quarter-finals in 1926, also reaching the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 1924. In 1923 he won the All-England Plate at Wimbledon, the consolation tournament for first and second round losers. Washer played eight ties in Davis Cup for Belgium between 1921-27, winning 14 of 24 matches. He was world ranked #9 in 1923.
