Biography

Jason Pyrah was a middle-distance runner who competed in the 1,500 metres at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics, making the final at Sydney. Pyrah won a bronze medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in the 1,500. He was US Indoor mile champion in 1997 and 2000, and twice finished second at the outdoor nationals in the 1,500, in 1994 and 1998.

Pyrah attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1993. He spent 1989-90 in Cochabamba, Bolivia on a Morman religious mission. Pyrah earned a masters’ degree in nutrition from BYU, and later served as the sports medicine coordinator at CoxHealth in the Springfield, Missouri area.
