Biography

Jack Pierce was a high hurdler who ran in college at Morgan State University, where he was NCAA indoor champion in the 60 yd hurdles in 1982. While in college he made ends meet by cleaning slot machines at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City. He ran at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, winning a bronze medal. He also claimed two medals in the 110 hurdles at the World Championships, a silver in 1991 and a bronze in 1993. Pierce just missed medals at the 1987 and 1995 Worlds, finishing fourth both times. Pierce won the 1992 Olympic Trials and also won the USA title in 1993. Pierce later worked in sports management as a coach / manager. He also became certified as a track & field official in New Jersey. Pierce was inducted into the South Jersey Track & Field Hall of Fame, and the Woodbury High School Hall of Fame.
