Biography

After winning the AAU indoor 60y in 1911 and the 220 y outdoor in 1912, Alvah Meyer of the Irish-American AC performed poorly at the 1912 Final Trials and was only included on the Stockholm team on the condition that he pay his own way. His parents provided the necessary funds and Meyer took the silver medal in the 100 m but, although he was the reigning U.S. champion, he failed to make the final of the 200 m. In 1914, Meyer set a world indoor record of 6.4 for 60y and the following year he posted an indoor record of 32.2 for 330 y.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.7 (1912); 200 – 21.7y (1912).
