Biography

Hugh Foley began rowing for Loyola University in Los Angeles, but transferred to LaSalle, graduating from there in 1966 with a degree in accounting. Rowing for Vesper BC, Foley won six U.S. championships, either in the eights or the fours with. He also won several international regattas in Britain, Europe, and Australia, and at the 1967 Pan-American Games was joined by his 1964 Olympic teammates, Bill Stowe and Bob Zimonyi, to take a gold medal in the fours with. Hugh Foley remained active in rowing when he coached the crew teams at Boston University for most of the 70s, but he later worked as a programmer/accountant.
