Herman Donner won two Olympic medals in water polo, with a silver in 1908 and a bronze in 1912. Little is known of the rest of his life until he joined the Belgian Army in January 1914. He served with the 7e Company of the 1e Grenadiers 2/3. Donners was killed in action in May 1915 in Calais, France.
