Biography

Gerardo Bönnhoff was born in Berlin (GER) under the given name Gerhard. In 1945, he was still a German citizen when he ran 100 meters in 10.3 seconds in Buenos Aires, which would have bettered the German Record. In 1947 he became an Argentine citizen and changed his name to Gerardo. He won a bronze medal at the 1951 Pan-American Games in the 4×100 (with Fernando Lapuente, Mariano Acosta, and the non-Olympian Adelio Márquez). He also finished fourth at the 1951 Pan-American Games in the 200 and the 1955 Pan American Games 4×100 relay.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.2 (1946); 200 – 21.3 (1947).
