Biography

Francisco Lozano was nicknamed Camarón, or shrimp, and was somewhat of a "hare", escaping early to let other cyclists try and catch him, allowing his team mates to win. He competed 9 times in the Vuelta de Mexico, with a 4th classification as his best. He was a decent track sprinter as well. At the Pan American Games he won bronze with the 4000 metre pursuit team (with the non-Olympians Viviano Gónzalez and Rubén Ramírez) in 1955 and two silver in the road race as well as in the road race team competition (with Filiberto Mercado and Jacinto Brito) in 1959. Lozano later worked for the Mexican Social Security and the Mexican army as a technician.
