Biography

Ernst Winter, a German gymnast from Frankfurt, won the gold medal with the German team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Individually he was the last of the eight German gymnasts finishing in 58th place. Winter was runner-up in the German All-Round Championship four times in five years, 1931-32 and 1934-35. He was declared missing-in-action in 1943 near Stalingrad. It was assumed he died in a Russian POW Camp with an unknown Date of Death.
