Biography

The younger brother of two-time Olympic gold medalist, George Larner, Ernest Larner placed fourth in the AAA 7 miles walk in 1908, in a race that saw his brother disqualified. Ernest was selected for both the Olympic walking events that year and reached the final of the 10 miles but finished fifth in a race won by his brother George. The son of a London plasterer, Ernst Larner became a librarian at Shepherd’s Bush library. He saw service with the Royal Army Medical Corps in World War I.

Personal Bests: 7 mile Walk – 54:30.2 (1908); 10 miles Walk – 1-21:25.4 (1908).
