Biography

Elsebeth Brehm was the greatest Danish female tennis player prior to World War II. She won eight Danish titles in singles (1921 indoors, 1923-24 both, 1925 outdoors, 1927 both), adding three titles in women’s doubles and five in mixed doubles. Brehm competed at the 1920 and 1924 Olympics in singles and doubles, making the quarters of the 1920 women’s doubles. She organized the first Indoor World Cup of tennis in 1921, which took place at the Kjøbenhavns Boldklub. Brehm also competed in gymnastics and she worked as a teacher.
