Biography

While a youth in Mississippi, the first water sport in which Constance Titus participated was alligator hunting. Presumably he learned to row to get away from the alligators quickly. Titus later moved to New York where he represented the Atalanta Boat Club. He won three national titles in the single sculls and one in the doubles, all in the first decade of the 20th century. He spent a few years as crew coach at Princeton, but made his living for over 50 years as an insurance broker.
