Biography

Clyde “The Glide” Drexler played college basketball at the University of Houston, leading them to Final Four appearances in both 1982 and 1983. Drexler left college after his junior year and was chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft as the 14th overall pick. Drexler played most of his entire NBA career with the Trail Blazers, playing with them from 1983-95, and then played his final three years (1995-98) with the Houston Rockets. Drexler became one of the greatest NBA players ever, which led to his being chosen for the original Dream Team in 1992.

Drexler was a 10-time NBA All-Star, in 1986, 1988-94, and 1996-97. He was All-NBA First Team in 1992, Second-Team in 1988 and 1991, and Third-Team in 1990 and 1995. He was named to the NBA 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. Drexler averaged 20.4 points for his career, with an average of over 6 rebounds and 5 assists per game. His best three scoring seasons were 1988/89, when he averaged over 27 points per game (ppg), 1987/88, when he averaged 27.0 ppg, and 1991/92, when he averaged 25.0 ppg.
