Claud Whittindale and his brother Raymond both represented for Moseley Wanderers at the 1900 Olympics as teenagers. Claud was a full-back or three-quarter with the Old Edwardians and Coventry teams at the time. Raymond and another brother Karl also played for the Edwardians. The son of James Whittindale, a Warwickshire estate agent and auctioneer, Claud and other members of the family were keen amateur dramatists and in the early 1890s the family put on the first pantomime in their home-town of Kenilworth. Claud originally followed his father’s profession as a youngster but then moved to Herefordshire and became a farmer before his untimely death at the age of 25.
