Christian Pulisic joins Chelsea for record transfer fee

Pulisic became the most expensive American player in history in 2019 when Chelsea paid £58m for his services.

In his debut season in England, he scored 11 goals and contributed 10 assists. And in the 2021 Champions League, he came on as a substitute as the Londoners beat Manchester City 1-0 to claim the trophy for a second time.

Two years later, after scoring 26 goals in 145 appearances for the Blues, the American joined AC Milan for €22 million.

Despite having the option of representing Croatia through his grandfather, Pulisic opted for the United States men's national team. From 2012-16, he scored 20 times in 34 games for the U17 side with head coach Jurgen Klinsmann then calling him up to the senior squad.

In 2016, he made his senior team debut and became the youngest American player to appear in a FIFA World Cup qualifier, even though USA failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

After the World Cup disappointment, Pulisic became USA's youngest captain at 20 years and 63 days in a friendly defeat to Italy. The following year, he became the youngest American player to score 10 international goals.

Pulisic captained the U.S. to victory in the inagural CONCACAF Nations League in 2021. The following year, he scored his first international hat-trick - against Panama - in World Cup qualification with the Americans making it to the tournament in Qatar.

The Milan forward received two Man of the Match awards as the United States made it through to the last 16 where they went down 3-1 to the Netherlands. In 2023, he was named the Player of the Tournament at the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals, helping the United States retain their trophy.
