Biography

Charles Lomberg won a silver medal in the 1912 decathlon after Jim Thorpe was disqualified. Lomberg was Swedish decathlon champion in 1912, defeating Hugo Wieslander, who later won Olympic gold after Thorpe’s DQ. But Lomberg had a short decathlon career, competing only in 1911-12 and coming back in 1920 to try to make the Swedish Olympic team, which was not successful. Lomberg was also a useful high jumper and long jumper, competing in the long jump at the Stockholm Olympics, and placed second in the Swedish nationals in 1912 in that event.

Personal Bests: LJ – 6.87 (1912); Dec – 5721 (1912).
